Coming off an undefeated run at USYS Nationals in July, 09G NL carried the positive momentum into the 24-25 NL season. After a summer of training and team preparation, the team dove into Frontier Conference play.
The season kicked off in August with back-to-back shutouts in Dallas against BVB and FC Dallas. From there, the team traveled to Temple for a double-header weekend, coming away with 7 goals scored across the two games and 0 goals conceded. The next three matches, 09G NL enjoyed a home field advantage in Round Rock, handily defeating GLASA Dallas Legacy, LC United, and Sporting OK with an overall goal differential of 12-0. For the final match, the top spot in the Frontier Conference was all to play for as 09G NL faced the #2 team. The team sealed the match - and the Conference - title with a dominant 3-0 performance against Legacy.
With their undefeated campaign, 09G NL made FIERCE history earning back-to-back Frontier Conference titles. More impressively, the team earned their second consecutive title without conceding a single goal. 09G NL player Ava Zander described conference play as "a challenge for us, but knowing what we are capable of as a team made us keep our high standard throughout the season. Being aware of what we needed to work on and holding each other accountable allowed us to strengthen our mindset to work toward our goal. Our bonds with each other, both on and off the field, and with other girls in the club fueled us to fight for each other during every match. It was empowering, knowing we had so much support."
Despite the success of the team in conference, a long road lies ahead for 09G NL if they wish to return to Nationals. Their first post-season test will be the NL Quarterfinals in December, where they will join 06-07G NL and 08G NL in Mesa, AZ. All three teams will be vying for advancement to the NL Semifinals in Oceanside, CA in May. FIERCE is incredibly proud of all this team has accomplished, and looks forward to seeing them compete in Mesa soon!
